I met Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. At the house of a person who works with my dad in D.C. (There were so many nice Puerto Rican lawyers and professors and people there!)

And since I first heard that Sonia Sotomayor was the first Puerto Rican woman to go so far in the judicial system, I can say I’M PROUD TO BE A PUERTO RICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess that lasted for a while before I decided that I wanted to be Native American again. Well, it was fun while it lasted, right?

No, seriously, despite my desire to belong to a truly environmentalist tribe somewhere, I am amazed at how far this country has come. To put it simply, I’m happy that blacks and hispanics have now ascended to the highest levels of government. All we need is some more asian representation, perhaps, and we’re set. =)

And just because it’s a defining moment in history, for all Hispanics and Americans alike, today’s video (from August 6th) is the moment when Sonia Sotomayor was sworn in:
